General Motors
They once killed the electric car. Now they're slowly bringing in hybrids, but watch out!! They're greenwashing left and right with claims like "Green Car of the Year" for a 20 MPG Chevy Tahoe SUV.
First of all, there's no such thing as a green car. Improving efficiency is wonderful, just don't mislead us!

Hear, hear joeth! It really riles me how car companies in the US bang on about their "environmentally friendly" gas guzzlers because they've improved the efficiency from 5 mpg to 10. And calling a 5 litre monstrosity "green" is, quite frankly, insulting. Pulling the wool over the great American public's eyes, me thinks. And therein lies the root of the problem. Isn't it about time companies were honest and tried to do something that actually improved the environment? Instead of duping the public into making it worse?

Be sure to watch GM's Bob Lutz talk about the Chevy Volt on The Colbert Report. Apparently, Lutz does not "believe in the CO2 theory."

Electric cars have traditionally used series wound DC motors, a form of brushed DC electric motor. More recent electric vehicles have made use of a variety of AC motor types, as these are simpler to build and have no brushes that can wear out. These are usually induction motors or brush less AC electric motors which use permanent magnets. There are several variations of the permanent magnet motor which offer simpler drive schemes and/or lower cost including the brush less DC electric motor.

If it was that bad, all GM had to do was turn some EVs over to Consumer Reports, and then let the resulting wail kill the electric car.
